Volunteers Sought for Feb. 17 El Paso Marathon Races

Thursday, December 13th, 2018

As the Border region’s premier races, the Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, TFCU Half Marathon, and Up and Running 5K offer a great way for runners and non-runners alike to show off our community, support charity and showcase the border’s spirit.

The El Paso Marathon races are looking for volunteers to help put on the race. Volunteering needs include groups to staff aid stations (to give out Gatorade and water, and cheer on runners), expo volunteers (for packet pickup), and various other jobs.

The races all occur Feb. 17. They start and finish in the Southwest University Park, which is the home of the El Paso Chihuahuas AAA baseball team.

“Volunteering is a great way to help us help local non-profits, enhance qualify of life in El Paso, and promote health and fitness,” said Mike Coulter, race director. “And it’s also a lot of fun.”

Moreover, Coulter added, “volunteers can take pride in helping people achieve the goals they’ve set for themselves!”

The races are all organized by the El Paso Marathon Foundation. The foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, organizes the marathon, half marathon and 5K. Proceeds from the races go to charities; the foundation has donated more than $250,000 to charities since the marathon began in 2007.
