EL PASO MARATHON MAKES DONATIONS TO EL PASO YOUTH CHARITIES

The El Paso Marathon Foundation has made donations to the Lee & Beulah Moore Children's Home and to the Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso.

The foundation is also providing race entry sponsorships for youth of each organization.

"We are very proud to be able to make these donations" said Mike Coulter, race director for the El Paso Marathon/Half Marathon and 5K. "As a non-profit committed to promoting health and fitness in the El Paso region and providing support to other local non-profit agencies, it means a lot to us that the El Paso running community has joined us in our cause."

The Lee & Beulah Moore Children's Home supports El Paso children who are in need—for whatever reason. The organization provides quality programs and services for children and families who are experiencing difficulty in their lives by providing a nurturing, positive environment and teaching self-respect, respect for others, and the importance of taking responsibility for one's decisions and actions.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso is a community-based organization that provides young people with a fun, safe and constructive environment when they are not at home or school. The foundation's donation supports a youth running program called the Southside Running Club, which promotes youth running in Central El Paso, as a means to encourage a healthy lifestyle, improve academic achievement, and discourage drug and alcohol abuse.

Both organizations provided volunteer support for the 2017 edition of the Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, Half Marathon and Up and Running 5K.

The El Paso Marathon Foundation, which organizes the Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, El Paso Half Marathon and Up and Running 5K, is dedicated to promoting health and fitness in the El Paso region, providing support to local and national non-profit organizations.

The next El Paso Marathon races will be Feb. 18, 2018. People interested in running, volunteering or sponsoring can go to www.elpasomarathon.org for more information.

Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, formerly Springfoot, rebrands and brings start to Downtown El Paso

The Michelob El Paso Marathon is putting renewed focus on Downtown El Paso, rebranding the race from its prior name of Springfoot and moving its marathon start to Downtown El Paso.

Now, start for the marathon, the El Paso Half Marathon and the Up and Running 5K will all start together from Downtown El Paso on Feb. 18, 2018.

"This allows us to put our races’ emphasis on Downtown, which really is the heart of El Paso," said Mike Coulter, race director for the races. "We will have some 2,500 runners all starting together in Downtown El Paso, which will only add to the excitement of the races."

To emphasize this renewed focused on El Paso, the El Paso Marathon Foundation board recently voted to rebrand the races as the Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, El Paso Half Marathon and the Up and Running El Paso 5K. Last year, the races were known as Springfoot.

The races are sponsored by the El Paso Marathon Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes youth, health and fitness in the El Paso region, providing support to local and national non-profit organizations.

El Paso Marathon adds new Michelob Ultra Team Challenges for 2018 races

The upcoming Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, Half Marathon and Up and Running 5K will feature new team competitions for the races on Feb. 18, 2018, the El Paso Marathon Foundation announced today.

The Michelob Ultra Team Challenge will give running teams incentives to have large, spirited teams, as well as competitive teams in all three races.

On the competitive side, the challenge will allow for teams to compete in the full marathon, half marathon and 5K. Think your team is fast? Get a team of five or more runners together, and find out if you can pull off a win! The competition includes:

Competitive Awards*

  • Speedy: The cumulative time of top five runners on your team will result in your overall team time. The team with the lowest time wins!
  • At Least They Finished: Sometimes "success" is defined as just showing up. For the slowest team, they’ll have an award.
  • Average Joes: You say, your team is probably not the fastest or slowest, but just average? Well, your team might win the "Average Joes" award. For example, if there are 20 teams in the half marathon, the 10th place team will be the Average Joes winner.

* Please note that team members in the competitive category must have at least 5 members signed up in the same event to be eligible for awards in that event: full marathon, half marathon or 5K.

Social Awards

Some folks don't care if they run fastest or slowest. They run the races to be with friends or just go a little crazy, for social reasons. For them, the Michelob Ultra Team Challenge has awards too:

  • Largest team: This is a great way to motivate the office to get into fitness. Have the most participants, win the award!
  • Most Motivated team: It takes a lot of spirit to run a 5K, half marathon or, especially, a marathon. If you team has it, you can win!
  • Best Dressed (best costumes): Finally, a big part of the fun is just making yourself seen. Be the team that everyone remains, and win best dressed!

Team Discount!

Teams of 10 or more will receive a discount.  That's right, once your team reaches 10 in number, each member will receive a $5 discount (the first 10 to register will receive a refund).
